The Forgetful Tooth Fairy

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with our tooth fairy lately, but she is definitely not doing a very good job. I mean how hard can it really be?

Job Description:
  1. Get word that there has been a tooth lost and where the child lives.
Does anyone else picture the tiny little sparkly tooth fairy on her fluffy cotton ball like cloud, way up in the blue sky, standing over her miniature little fax machine getting notice of all the lost teeth? No? oh, yeah.....me neither......moving on.
  2. Research the going rate for teeth these days. Is it really true that the bigger teeth are worth more than those tiny ones that were lost first? Do children somewhere really get $5 for a tooth?
  3. Strategically plan the tooth/money swap in the darkest hours of the night.
She needs to strategically slip into a quiet dark bedroom, while trying to step over the exact spot on the floor that creaks. Has that creak always been that loud? She has to try to avoid disturbing the sleeping dogs or she will have two hairy helpers with tails wagging directly into the door. Thump thump thump. Then she has to feel around for the teeny tiny tooth under three fluffy big pillows, under a sleeping child that now has her comforter hanging half off the bed and half over her head, stuffed animals strewn about everywhere, and an arm flopped over the edge of the pillow on the side that she needs to get to. The poor tooth fairy - the stress of the job must be crazy.
  4. Sprinkle some fairy dust with her wand that makes that twinkling sound.
  5. Slip out of the house just as quiet (or noisily) as she came in.
  6. Make child super happy with delight when he/she wakes up to find the gross tooth gone and new money in its place.
Now, if I had to give an evaluation on our current tooth fairy, she would not fair too well these days. I mean she was excellent when Sydney first started loosing teeth - there was never an issue. It's more of a new development over the last year that her memory and efficiency appears to be slipping.
I'm thinking that she hears that a tooth has been lost, gets excited about it, but then somehow that information gets lost amongst all the other things she is working on in her little tooth fairy home. She probably has a lot to do with making dinner, helping with homework, taking her kids to tooth fairy lessons. Maybe the tooth fairy's kids have clothes that need to be urgently washed - I mean who knew that needing your favorite pair of skinny jeans was such an emergency these days? Or maybe the tooth fairy puts her kids to bed making a mental note of all those teeth in the world that she has to grab when children drift off to sleep, but it slips her mind when she is doing the dishes or working on one of her tooth fairy crafts. These things can happen.....really they can.
I think the worst is when the tooth fairy completely forgets or gets so busy that she actual forgets to put the money under the pillow. Why would she do such a horrible thing? She may even panic and manage to sneak back in the bedroom while the child is taking their morning shower to switch out the tooth. This is of course after the child has discovered there is no money under the pillow and that stinking tooth, which they were so excited to have in their possession not even 12 hours ago, is still there. Rats!!

This is what happens at our house since the tooth fairy has a tendency to forget.... or maybe she just gets lost in our home.
Notes appear on our bedroom door.

We are just hoping that we either get a new tooth fairy before Tatum starts losing teeth, or maybe the tooth fairy can start tying a string around her finger to help her remember.
