Chicken Poop

The title of this Post, Chicken Poop, really does say it all. We stopped at Tractor Supply to get some dog food. The baby chicks are there - Very exciting. We are barely in the door when they spot the big silver feed bins that house the baby chicks. We could see the glowing heat lamps. Sydney and Tatum are starting to walk a little faster and then sprint, and Dave is not far behind.

We all lean over to look and they are so tiny and adorable. Of course they are making those little cheep cheep cheep chirping sounds. Sydney can barely stand it. She NEEDS to pick one up. Me, being the mom focuses on the sign that says "baby chicks can spread salmonella, please wash your hands after handling the chicks." I look over at Dave to see what he thinks and his hands are already getting one out to let Tatum pet it. So I nod to Sydney and she goes in to grab one.

Within 30 seconds, Dave says "ughh, I think it pooped on me". He opens his hands to check it out, and sure enough, that cute little chick sure can poop. This is when I notice that some of it has dripped on Tatum's shoe. I try to hide this fact and figure I will just clean it later. This would not go over well if Tatum noticed. Right behind me Syd yells "Gross it pooped on me" and she wants to hand the thing off to me - Yeah right! She is now half laughing and half freaking out and Dave grabs hers and puts hers back down also. Tatum is just standing there with the worst expression on her face. No wonder there is no sign that says don't pick up the chicks. They are a sign themselves. The guy behind the counter has his head down and I think about how he is secretly laughing every time this happens. Like - you sill y people, what did you expect. Ugh.

I look over at the little bottle of sanitizer, yeah OK. So off to the bathroom we all go to wash up and I quickly wash off Tatum's shoe, before she asks too many questions. We all meet up outside the bathroom "Well that was fun." The kids are still laughing and Dave and I just shake our heads at each other.
