Piece of Me

We got home from work and school a few days ago and Tatum was chatting away as fast as she could. This is the normal happening after we get home. She has just sooo much to tell me about. She tells me about her friends, her lunch, about art or gym class, etc. I'm usually starting some coffee, cleaning off the table, and attempting to look at the mail before it makes a giant pile by Friday night. I'm flipping through the junk mail and this is our conversation:

Tatum - "I want a piece of you"

Me - I look up from my sorting of junk mail and very intelligently go: "Huh?"

Tatum - smiles sweetly - "I want a piece of you."

Me - "You want a piece of me?" This is when I was having that sort of slow motion outside of my body moment. I could hear it as I was saying it and now understanding what she meant.

Tatum - she laughs - "Yeah, I want a piece of you" and puts her fists up in a mock fight-like pose.

Me - again looking very intelligent with the "huh" look still on my face. "You want to fight me?"

Tatum laughs. "I love you mommy"

Me - still a little in shock that my 5 year old just said this and made a joke. "I love you too, Tataboo."

Tatum - skips away on to her next thing.

Me - watch her walk away completely amused with herself and I'm half smirking, half confused, half amused. What just happened here?
