Grand Old Flag

Tatum has been learning lots of songs in Kindergarten. She sings in her classroom some song about her hands at her side and ready for the hall before they walk in a line out of her classroom and down the hall of school. She is learning lots of them in her music class and she is always singing them. She is learning songs at church and sings those repeatedly to the point of where I find myself humming these along on my walk into work.

Last night she was telling us that she learned a new one and I quickly figured out it is the Grand Old Flag, only Tatum's way. We are all upstairs getting the kiddos ready for bed and Tatum is singing away:

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high spying flag

We all look at her "high spying?" too funny. We let her know it is "high flying flag" and in true Tatum fashion, she didn't look all that convinced. More like she was going to check on this with someone that knows more than us. She smiles sweetly and goes back to singing it her way.

I like "high spying" -- sounds cool and reminds me of one of my favorite books, Harriet the Spy! Good one Tatum! :)
