Oops, we did it again.........

Soooooo, we were looking at Petfinder.com, ya know...., just to see what was out there for dogs. We really miss having a big dog around and we really believe in giving homes to those animals that are in shelters and the Humane Society. There are just so many great animals out there that don't have homes. You can pick a baby, young one, adult, and senior and almost always they are already fixed, had their first shots, and are housebroken.

Well, to get on with my story. We had searched all different types and one of the searches was for a Golden Retriever or Golden Retriever mix. That's when we happened upon two brothers that were possibly a Leonberger/Golden Retriever mix. They were adorable and they were in Buffalo.

So we researched this Leonberger that we had never heard of before and what a great type of dog. They are considered to very mild mannered, great with kids, and very smart. They can get kind of big, so we thought it's very cool that they were mixed with Golden Retriever, which is another fabulous family dog. If you are curious, here are some links to describe Leonbergers:

If you checked any of the links, you can see what a nice dog it is and mixed with Golden Retriever, neither one of these boys would get too big.

The Buffalo Humane Society requires a home visit to make sure your family fits and is the best choice for a dog. We scheduled our home visit for this past Friday and they brought over both of them so we could see their temperament with our other animals and kids before we chose which one we were interested in.

Oh my goodness, they were awesome!!! Regan, who can be a bit of a spaz, didn't bother them, they walked so great on leashes, and the kids were in love with them. At one point, we look over and see Syd on the driveway with one in her lap and the other right next to her. So Dave and I took them for a short walk to see which one we wanted and we made our horribly hard choice since they were both so wonderful. There were 6 other people interested in them and they have to do home checks on each one, so we had to wait until Sunday to find out. We got a call on Sunday and they chose us!! yay!!!

Monday, after work, Dave drove to Buffalo and signed all the necessary papers. A lady from the Buffalo Humane Society was there and told Dave that they are leaning more towards them being full Leonbergers, but only time will tell because they can take years to become full grown. (OH BOY!!!) Thinking they are Golden Retriever mix is a common misconception of the Leonberger, so they really aren't certain.

So are you curious, which one we picked?

Introducing: Van Gogh and Tucker.

We couldn't decide and they are inseparable. Where one goes, the other follows. It's like having one dog with two heads. We are very well aware of how CRAZY we are!!! Tucker is just a wee bit darker than Van Gogh, but it's really hard telling them apart so far. Congratulations Becky and Dave - you have twin boys. oh boy......

Regan and the boys get along great. Snickerdoodle is a bit unsure and nervous right now. They barely even got near her and she jumped straight up in the air, hissed and shot through the cat door.
This picture is her after she thought they were gone and sneaked back out to see if the coast was clear. She was wrong. Tucker sat up and Snickerdoodle's hair puffed all up. We haven't seen much of her since.

Tucker was pretty curious about the cat door after Snickerdoodle was able to go right through a door.
